SOLO

I present solo performances that are closely connected to my ongoing artistic research. For a long time, working solo was not part of my practice — for many reasons. Recently, however, I have developed a deep affection for these formats, experiencing them as mirrors: intimate spaces for listening, presence, and shared introspection.

Depending on the context, I perform 50 minute solo sets that may take the form of an improvised bass clarinet performance with homemade electronics, a beatings- and noise-driven program for various clarinets featuring works by composers such as Alvin Lucier, Peter Ablinger, Manfred Maierhof, Sarah Hennies, and Rebecca Saunders, or a contrabass clarinet–only concert. The latter is particularly suited to venues with generous reverberation and brings together classics such as Gérard Grisey’s Anubis-Nout with lesser-known works by composers including Bernhard Gander and Milica Djordjević.
