The piece DOMMAGE DOMMAGE is an transdisciplinary performance inspired by the text Événements regrettables by Yves Reynaud (1985). Événements regrettables is a collection of monologues, songs, duos, and trios exploring human interactions. Just like IPSO, the collective who wrote the piece.
The piece discusses the «new forms» mentioned by Yves Reynaud and attempts to redefine them.
What are our rights at the table? It questions ancestral habits, explores the search for security when its defining elements are removed, and seeks to break free from patriarchal myths.
Music guides the piece and its audience, emerging from a specially designed sound installation, traditional instruments like the clarinet, percussion, or cello, and even from scenographic elements!
Champagne glasses, chairs, accessories... in an extraordinary gathering that welcomes everyone, young and old, the noise of a celebration transforms into music. The performers move around freely, erasing any separation between them and the spectators : they are part of the welcoming gathering, the safe place, the celebration who-knows-why. And this is what the piece is about.
DOMMAGE DOMMAGE has been premiered in Bern at the cultural center Bienzgut and has been presented in Yverdons-les-Bains, Zürich, Porrentruy, Basel, Freiburg im Breisgau.
